Recent Phone Conversation with ShugarSister
ShugarBride: So I have this box of memories from childhood and such. A lot of high school stuff, and beyond, really. But it has some important childhood stuff in there to.
ShugarSister: Oh, yeah. Good idea. is that where you keep Teddy Freddy?
SILENCE.
ShugarBride: NO!!!! WHAT!?!? NO!!! It's got a cover on it. He wouldn't be able to BREATHE IN THERE!!!!
Okay- yes, I'm 26 years old.
I'm not afraid to admit that I have two "friends"…ok, stuffed animals, that still hang out in my room.
Kaiser, the black lab Eddie Bauer puppy circa 1999 a la best friend and world record holder (I never get tired of saying that) Joseph Detmer.
And Theodore Fredrick, known more commonly as Teddy Freddy.
Kaiser is like the best cuddle dog ever. He has helped many, MANY of my girlfriends in their time of sadness. I'm pretty sure most of my floor-mates my freshmen year of Edgewood borrowed him during homesick nights and evenings of bad-break-ups. Kaiser goes well with a Reese's Blizzard and Friends Reruns. Kaiser is a comforter. A good hugger. And he also makes a nice neck pillow on long car rides.
Teddy Freddy was my first teddy bear. My late great-grandparents, G&G Weber, gave him to me on the day of my birth. I think. I swear this is true, but something in my head is telling me my mother is going to be correcting this notion - but it doesn’t matter WHERE I got him: I LOVE HIM. and I have for a long long long time. (26 years, apparently)
Teddy Freddy is a unique little bear. He has a secret smile. His mouth does indeed smile, yet his fur is fluffy enough that you can't actually see the smile unless you part the hair around his mouth. He always looks content with a tiny black nose and two beady eyes. (the good kind of beady…if there is one). Teddy Freddy has traveled ALL OVER the great USofA with me. He has taken NUMEROUS trips to Tennessee, since the age of 2, and he too was a fan of the former Tweety City and Opryland Amusement Park (just like me). He likes the no-longer findable Cherry Rush Gatorade, and detests Grape Flavoring (just like me). And he is REALLY good at Tetris. (just like me.)
Teddy Freddy is the perfect picnic companion, and also a wonderful audience when rehearsing your Informative Speech on wrestlers using unsafe methods to cut weight (which I may or may not have given in 4 different classes in high school & college). And he is humble and kind. He never once showed a bit of jealousy upon meeting Kaiser and having to share a room with him. He is splendid.
Now. Something tells me ShugarGroom is not going to be all for sharing a room, let alone a bed, with Kaiser and/or Teddy Freddy. (which is a whole nother story, let me tell ya.) So, now I turn to you dear readers.
As I prepare to move into our soon to be "first home together" this week, do you have any creative ideas of how to display such wonderful creatures? Honestly, is it time for me to retire them to the box of doom? (don't worry, Kaiser and teddy Freddy are without internet access, they won't know what you say.)
